Calling all fiction and non-fiction writers, write more with us in November!

If you have a novel in you and you haven’t written it yet, check out the the NaNoWriMo website for details on how to get some great tips and support during all 30 days in November. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter too.

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Click here for  some background on this internet-based annual creative writing project that literally thousands of writers participate in around the globe.

If you’ve always wanted to write a non-fiction book such as in your area of business expertise, self-help, health and wellness, spiritual, anthology, and so on, you will still find much inspiration following NaNoWriMo posts on social media. To help, we will be sharing some of their posts to encourage our own network of followers, friends, and colleagues.

Whether you sign up for NaNoWriMo to stimulate your creative juices or follow their posts and ours and make a game plan of your own, I hope you will join us in writing more in November.

Here are some more tips to help you get started:

  • Decide your topic, what you want to write about.
  • Create a framework for your message, i.e. envision your book in parts and/or chapters.
  • Make notes under each part and/or chapter as to what you might want to share in that section. At the same time, allow yourself flexibility, knowing that once you start writing other ideas will surface quite naturally. You may want to add another chapter or save an idea or two for future blogs or articles to promote your message, or even for a second book.
  • Commit to a total word count you’d like to accomplish within the month of November. For example, 50,000 words, as in the National Novel writing project, works out to about 1,667 words to write per day. To write a non-fiction book of 25,000 to 35,000 words, this breaks down to just 834 – 1,167 words to write per day.
  • Begin, and stay the course.

Now, if you’re almost ready to go for it, take a minute to imagine how you will feel and what you will be thinking on December 1st when you have accomplished this great and creatively satisfying exercise. What will be the benefits when you have completed writing your book? What new choices will you have in front of you?

In as little as thirty to sixty minutes a day, you can do this!

We hope you will reach out to us here in the comments section below and on social media, and keep us in the loop! We’re always here to help and inspire those who have a story to tell or something meaningful to teach.

Let’s make a difference together!

Warmest regards,

Sheri and the I C Publishing Team
