Happy New Year! What a perfect time to introduce you to our author, Jenn Pike; her messages in The Simplicity Project: A Simple, No-Nonsense Approach To Losing Weight & Changing Your Body Forever, pack a healthy punch! Between our busy schedules, I’m excited that Jenn and I were able to finally complete this mini-interview to share with you.

Jenn’s brilliance is in her ability to take a ton of information, find the truths within, add to it her own vast knowledge and experience, and turn it into something that we can all understand and actually use in our own lives. Not only do we feel her passion in every word, her conversational, down-to-earth and humorous style of writing engages us from beginning to end.

Enjoy these light-hearted, yet impactful and inspiring nuggets:

Sheri: What inspired you to write this book?

Jenn: After so many years of teaching workshops and working with people one-on-one, I felt I needed to have a foundational, one-stop resource for people to learn from me. I also knew that if I wanted a bigger platform for educating individuals and spreading my message, it was time to write a book. Although intense at times, it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience.

Sheri: What do you want others to gain from your book?

Jenn: My intention with The Simplicity Project is to inspire people by making a few simple shifts at a time. I want to encourage people to truly sit back and ask themselves, “how do I want to feel”, and to make being vital and vibrant their goal more so then looking a certain way. When you nourish your body through good food, exercise, and a healthy mindset, I can promise you the body you are craving will follow.

I also want to teach people what mainstream nutrition and healthy living information is not. I want consumers to know what they are buying and using, and how those products can and will affect both in a positive and negative way.

Sheri: What was your creative process for this project?

Jenn: Ha Ha . . . My creative process? I sat down and began to pour my whole being and passion into this project. I recalled the many conversations I’ve had with clients individually and at various seminars I’ve taught, that the average person just wanted to feel better, and the project simply started taking on a life of its own.

Sheri: Why did you choose the story-telling format you used?

Jenn: I took the process of how I work with a client: setting them up for what to expect and then beginning the journey by optimizing digestion, correcting hormonal imbalances, reducing inflammation, navigating through food labels, the grocery store and kitchen—followed up with supporting lifestyle changes, exercise, and more.

It just felt right, and flowed as I began to pull it together.

Sheri: What’s next for you as an author?

Jenn: Oh, just a few projects here and there 🙂 . . .

I recently released my first DVD, The Simplicity Project: A Core Revival To Transform Your Body, which has been very exciting!

I have plans of creating a workbook/journal to accompany the The Simplicity Project, to provide a place for journaling food, exercise, emotions, goals, and so much more. It will include some new recipes for food and skin care, photos of exercises, daily quotes and inspirations, and some add-ons from some of my best mentors and friends in the industry.

My goal is to have it out by September . . . I better get started! Ha Ha!

Sheri: What a refreshing approach . . . just to say it the way it is . . . and to get down to it.

With a young family and a growing business, Jenn is a great example of what it means to create and enjoy meaningful success on her own terms. And it starts with her walking her talk, and at the same time being real about her journey.

What about you? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Here is a glimpse of another blog post I am working on about “Courage” that is very fitting to share here as I wrap up my chat with Jenn. It’s a beautiful poem I have had on my wall at home for as long as I can remember.

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away.” – Thoreau

Wishing you a courageous, fun-filled and prosperous 2014!
